Recommended Reading...

I finally filled in my recommended reading and listening spot on our main website. It was nearly impossible to get both lists down to a few titles, so I will be changing that. I almost only read books by recommendation, so what are you reading?

  1. The Murder of Jesus by John MacArthur, re-reading Frank Peretti's This Present Darkness, and just finished Jerry Bridges' The Pursuit of Holiness. I'd recommend them all!

  2. Right now I'm reading "So Long Insecurity" by Beth Moore
Might I recommend "Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life" by Amy Kraus Rosenthal. Nothing monumental. A fun, easy read, but my very, very favorite! Love it! Love it! Love it! (Can't say that enough). Also, if you haven't read "Redeeming Love" by Francine Rivers, that's a must! And "Firstlight" by Sue Monk Kidd and "Great with Child" by Debra Reinstra. All great reads!
Oh, how I love a good book!
    Blessings,

  4. I am reading Peace: A History of Movements and Ideas by David Cortright and I'm LOVING it. So interesting! Also reading Transforming Grace: Christian Tradition and Women's Experience by Anne E. Carr. Also interesting stuff. And everything else I'm reading is for my seminary classes...none of which seems to be as interesting as these two books. Of course.

  7. Oh my! I just posted a brief "summer reading" blog that included a book you recommended during a workshop at Gordon College last year: "The Art of Family" :)
How neat to find this new post of more recommendations...I'm looking forward to giving them a closer look!

She's an amazing, descriptive writer and makes me proud to be a woman that is growing older & more beautiful everyday! 10. I'm with Shana - I'm reading So Long Insecurity by Beth Moore and it's AMAZING. It's a must read --- especially if you already are aware of some of insecurities and want to be rid of them. And I've heard from my pastor's wife great things about Cold Tangerines - which makes me want to put it on my list! I also am a fan of Randy Alcorn's Edge of Eternity.
for whatever reason with the weather warming up - I probably will read more! So looking forward to seeing what other people have to say!

  22. Thank you for the small talk, Sara! Just got done reading Anne Rice's Christ the Lord series. Jaw-dropping at what God has done in her life and what he has done through her writings to illuminate the humanity of Jesus. Now reading Angel Time by her. Write me at amartinez457@gmail, Sara, if it's ever possible to keep up as two mamas. Talk to you. Lisa

  27. Anything by Dan Allender is amazing...seriously. I just got finished reading Intimate Allies...so not your typical marriage book.

I don't usually like to jump on bandwagons, but if I find an author I like, I usually read most of what they write...Brennan Manning...one of my absolute favorites.
